About Me

Found in the Waves was established by me, Lizzie Rowden to bring the joy of open water swimming to as many people as possible and encourage everyone to swim safely with knowledge of their swim spot.
 
As a pool swim teacher, aquatic tutor and open water coach I spend my days teaching people to enjoy swimming whatever their experience or knowledge.
 
Whilst I love swimming, I have never been a competitive swimmer.  With unilateral talipes affecting my left ankle, I grew up being told by teachers and professionals that there was a limit to what I could achieve physically. My parents never put limits on what I could achieve so I kept pushing and trying. Over the years I’ve become a good, efficient swimmer who succeeds in open water events because they excite and challenge me.  I’m not out to beat the clock but to enjoy the experience.  It is this love of swimming and belief that we should not be limited by expectations that I want to share.
